The Perils of Overthinking and the Art of Taking Action

Overthinking is a silent thief that eats away our time and floods us with unuseful worries in the clamor of thoughts inside the human mind. Surprisingly, overthinking is the most futile use of energy by the man that has no end other than deeper confusion and fury.

Indeed, our minds are complex organs, able to explore and ponder at great depths. Still, once it is a present that becomes an annoyance, it becomes excessive thinking. A lot of people get entangled in this maze of thought since there seems to be no end to it. We simply make the decision more complicated as we continue to think about it. Although this analysis goes too far and does not lead to perfectionism but towards obstacles in development.

What is at stake here is a question of self-trust. The making of a decision should not be considered a search for absolute perfection but an attempt at learning something new. Every right and wrong decision that is made adds another dimension to our knowledge about what we call the world. This is not about striving for perfection, but rather a path of development. Perfectionism by means of overthinking equals mirages, which are fictional and never to be captured.

What if all actions and decisions had already been carefully thought through upfront? Such pursuit of perfection is in vain and burdensome. It is a hindrance as it suffocates creativity and curtails progress. Truly, life is an ever-learning experience, and some of the most valuable lessons emerge when in action and not in thinking about it.

That said, it is important to note that perfection does not exist. Perfection is a figment of imagination, something that recedes further when one tries to reach out for it. Chasing after an unrealistic expectation is nothing but a waste of time, leading to more frustrations rather than satisfaction. On the other hand, accepting imperfection makes way for authenticity and strength.

To kill the overthinking, we must let go of its hands and experience the mightiness of action. Everything changes as we go through it and decisions make us get there by themselves – whether they are big or minor. Do not be frozen in place by the fear of selecting the wrong option; move forward. The act drives us towards experience, whereby we encounter problems, find out, and develop.

Whenever the mind will be a battlefield for clashing ideas, recall that it is the enemy called overthinking. Simply trust and obey! Decide and act. It takes courage and strength to explore the unknown parts of life.

Lastly, the thought power should be channeled towards doing instead of thinking. Set yourself free from the constraints of perfection and enjoy the imperfection. Make it your decision that will lead you to the development. Have trust, for it is on the track of actions that the essence of life lies.
